How to sponsor

Since its inception in 1985, the Nantucket Film Festival has been successfully positioning sponsors in front of its highly-sought demographic of affluent and educated cultural creatives, early adopters and taste makers.

Long-time returning sponsors include Showtime, NBC Universal, Comcast, American Airlines, Stella Artois, HP, Merrill Lynch, Tradewind Aviation and San Pellegrino.

The festival is presently offering a variety of custom-tailored sponsorship packages which represent unique opportunities for client/executive hospitality.

Signature Programs

Sponsoring a Nantucket Film Festival Signature Program tightly integrates a brand into the festival as a Producing Sponsor of our programmed content. We know that film festival attendees appreciate sponsors as supporters of their positive festival experiences. High-profile guests and luminary hosts both contribute to favorable associations. Below are opportunities currently available at the Official Sponsor Level.

  • The Compass Rose Acting Award

This award was introduced at the 2008 festival to recognize the importance of those exceptional actors whose careers have touched both audiences and filmmakers alike, and have in fact inspired writers and directors to create roles specifically for them. The iconic and beloved Meg Ryan, was the inaugural recipient of the Compass Rose Acting Award. Meg's presence on Nantucket last year was a highlight for many festival-goers. The community and media attention was - as one would expect - abundant and favorable! This award could be renamed to match sponsor's branding objectives.

  • In Their Shoes

In Their Shoes is a series of intimate conversations facilitated by a highly regarded host and featuring our Screenwriters Tributee and Compass Rose Acting Award recipient. Two esteemed film industry figures-a screenwriter and an actor-are honored at the festival each year and are an important focus of the national press and industry attention that the festival is able to reliably garner. Hollywood luminaries who have received these distinctions in the past include Judd Apatow, Meg Ryan, Steve Martin, Paul Schrader and Charlie Kaufman to name but a few. Last year, Time Magazine film critic Richard Corliss was host to Academy Award nominated actor William H. Macy.

  • Morning Coffee With...®

What better way to spend your mornings than with the most talented writers, directors and producers in the film industry? A festival favorite from day one, Morning Coffee With...® takes place each day from 9:00-10:00 a.m. In 2008, these three days of lively discussions were hosted by film critic and media personality Leonard Maltin. Recent participants have included, John Landis, Adrienne Shelly, Paul Schrader, Doug Liman, Natalie Portman, Marisa Tomei and Peter and Bobby Farrelly.

Additional Sponsorship Opportunities

The festival is eager to work with a wide range of potential sponsors to create new programs and events that enhance the festival's offerings and match the individual marketing or client entertainment objectives of the sponsoring company. Some examples of sponsorship opportunities at the Producing Sponsor Level include:

  • Barnyard Ramble

Inspired by the highly entertaining and fantastically cool event run by Levon Helm at his Woodstock farm house, The Nantucket Film Festival broadens its story telling focus to include singer-songwriters. Following in the footsteps of legendary artists like Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, up-and-coming recording artists will take the stage late-night with the Westmore Farm House Band and entertain the attentive crowd with intimate performances of their new songs.

  • Filmfest for Kids

The Nantucket Film Festival will add a strand of programming which caters to those under 16, enhances the family-friendly nature of Nantucket and gives parents an enjoyable way to spend time with their kids while attending the festival. Outdoor screenings, educational activities and guest appearances by well-known actors and public figures make this a fantastic stand-alone sponsorship and amazing opportunity to engage with attendees.

  • Screenwriter's Party

In keeping with the Nantucket Film Festival's focus on screenwriters, the festival's Friday night party tips its hat to the writers in town with their films. By Friday the festival is in full swing and one could argue that it hits its stride at this event. Networking opportunities abound and the celebratory crowd is favorably disposed to sample and engage with various products and services.
